Vinci + Behdad live in NYC but Vinci grew up in The Ozarks. Arkansas was the perfect place to bring all of their favorite people together. They invited the people who know them best, skipped anything that didn't feel like them, and filled the day with the moments that mattered most.
One of my favorite parts of the day was watching their Chinese and Persian traditions come together so seamlessly. Every ceremony element had meaning, and it was beautiful to see both families honored while celebrating the beginning of a brand-new chapter together.
One especially meaningful moment was the Persian Sugar Rubbing Ceremony, a beautiful tradition that takes place as part of the Sofreh Aghd. During the ceremony, Vinci’s bridesmaids held a delicate cloth above the couple's heads while gently rubbing two sugar cones together over the fabric. As the sugar falls, it symbolizes showering the couple's marriage with sweetness, joy, and blessings for the life they're will build together. It's one of those traditions that's both visually stunning and deeply symbolic, and witnessing it was such a special reminder of how weddings can honor generations of family history while celebrating a new beginning.
Kindred Barn tucked away in Mulberry, Arkansas and somehow manages to feel both elegant and completely relaxed at the same time. The light is gorgeous, the views are beautiful, and there are about a hundred little corners that photographers quietly get excited about. (Yes, we're absolutely judging venues by the lighting.) With a smaller guest list, the whole day felt unhurried. There was time for long hugs, conversations that weren't interrupted every two minutes, and actually enjoying the day with the people they love. Revolutionary concept, honestly.
I absolutely love weddings that make space for family traditions like this. They tell a story that goes far beyond pretty details, giving future generations something to look back on and remember. They're a reminder that your wedding can be uniquely yours while still honoring the people and traditions that helped shape you. From the emotional ceremony to the laughter during the reception, every part of the day reflected exactly who these two are. Everything was family centered. No unnecessary fuss. No pressure to do things a certain way. Just an incredibly thoughtful celebration centered around family, culture, and each other.
