There are weddings that are beautiful, and then there are weddings that are just plain fun. This one was both.
These two have been building a life together for years. They've weathered seasons together, opened their home to foster children, and created a community of people who love them fiercely. So when it came time to finally celebrate, everyone showed up. Friends flew in from all over the country, turning the whole weekend into one big reunion. And honestly? New Orleans is the perfect place for that.
A few days before the wedding, we wandered through Hotel Peter & Paul for Lauren’s bridal portraits, and I couldn't have dreamed up a better setting. Between the historic architecture, soft light, and her incredible dress, every corner felt like it belonged in a movie. We started the big day at the NOPSI Hotel, where everyone got ready before heading into the ballroom for a heartfelt ceremony. There was an unmistakable feeling that everyone in the room had been waiting for this day for a long time. The minute the ceremony ended, the brass band started playing and the whole day shifted into celebration mode. Everyone grabbed their umbrellas, spilled out into the streets, and we danced around the block! One of the things I love most about photographing weddings here is how the city joins in. People stop on the sidewalks, cheer you on, wave from balconies, and suddenly complete strangers are celebrating right alongside you.
After making our way back to the hotel, everyone traded dancing in the streets for an incredible multi-course dinner. The evening slowed down just enough for heartfelt toasts, amazing food, and catching up with people who had traveled hundreds (sometimes thousands) of miles to be there. It felt less like a formal reception and more like the best dinner party you've ever been invited to—just with a packed dance floor waiting afterward.
What I'll remember most about this day wasn't just how beautiful everything looked (although it really was stunning). It was how deeply loved these two are. Every hug lasted a little longer. Every toast had a story behind it. Every person in that room had played a part in getting them to this moment. Those are my favorite weddings to photograph—the ones where the details are beautiful, but the relationships are what make the day unforgettable.
This celebration had everything I love about New Orleans: incredible food, live music, dancing in the streets, and people who know how to throw a party. But more than anything, it was a reminder that the very best weddings aren't about perfection—they're about bringing all your favorite people together and giving them a reason to celebrate.
